Alps of Denedrad
The Alps of Denedrad are the native home of the Juwilit kind. And no, we aren’t talking about the Juwiqáns when we mention how the Alps are the native home of the Juwilit kind; they are the native home of the entire Juwilit species! The term Juwiqán defines someone native to the Alps, or someone following a religious pantheon under the Juwiqán family. It’s complicated, but it is both a term given to religious people and to a cultural group.
The Alps are home to more branched cultures than any other culture in the world. The family includes major cultural groups, such as the Dinedrads, Southern Pyronads, Cospiros, Hevapols (although they have recently been classified as their own family), and much more! The Juwiqáns have a strong connection to the Alps, fire, and mountains overall, hence the name of the continent and many nations containing the term “Pyros”. While the term on Earth, in Latin, defines fire, in Juwiqish, the term defines the thermal energy released from the Alps and the spirit of fire.
One of the major cultural groups which comes from the Juwiqán family, or the Alps of Denedrad, would be the Dinedrads themselves. This group of people is a result of the lizard-kin mingling with the Juwiqán kind.
The term Juwilit is attributed to both most on-land cultures of Dinetrikia, as well as specifically to those within the Juwiqán branch of the Alps of Denedrad, which is why we sometimes switch back and forth with the term. But don’t get confused and call a Guon a Juwiqán; it doesn’t work that way.
On Dinetrikia, three major species inhabit it: the Narwinians, who inhabit the underground; the Juwilits, who populate most of the above land; and the Dinedrads, who are a hybrid species. Although, as mentioned, species are not to be confused with cultures. Think of it like humans. Anyone from China to Brazil is a human, although they share different cultures. On Dinetrikia, it’s different; there aren’t just “humans”, there are two other species… hope that makes sense.
The Alps of Denedrad, or the Júvráqinpýronálp in Juwiqish, possess Juwiqish as their official provincial language. Unfortunately, due to the grand influence of Dinedrad, the writing system of Juwiqish has been lost over the years, and they have adopted the same script as the Dinedrad language, which is one of the many examples of how the Juwiqán culture is in danger.
Ázh̀ Oturá Júvráqinpýronálp, meaning I see/gaze (at) Júvráqinpýronálp, is the provincial slogan of the Alps.
