Navinian
Navinian culture, more precisely the Navinit branch, is the official culture of the Guks, including the nations of Soseunguk, Sokcheonguk, Unguk, Beolguk, Jiwondonguk and Songwonsanguk. At one point in history, around 7 centuries ago before Hasos took over Navin, the Guk family was one of the most powerful families in the world. The term “Guk” is, in fact, present in 6 countries, due to yet again the fact that they were all ruled by the Guk family. Soseunguk means “Low land of the Guks”, Sokcheonguk means “Hot sand land of the Guks”, Unguk simply means “Land of the Guks”, Beolguk or Beol Guk was the name of a Hasodian general who rebelled against the Hasodian Crown and got given the titled of “Duke” and the title of “Guk” due to his courage and loyalty to the Guks themselves, Jiwondonguk means “Island land of the Guks” and finally Songwonsanguk which means “Coastal desert of the liberated Guk land”. The Guk family was not always the highest in power within the empire, rather, it was the Navinian Crown. However, at some point in history around 1 thousand years ago, the Navinian Crown decided to solely focus on their nation, Navin, and gave power to one of their most loyal generals, Nitonir Guk, who founded the legacy of the Guk empire. Technically, Navin started building their empire, but Nitonir was the one who truly made it a superpower for so many years. For several centuries, starting after the sieging of Navin done by Hasos 7 centuries ago, the native Navinian language, Navinish, which is the script found at the top of this page (Navinish Script and Caligraphy by CD) has been at risk. For 685 years, Hasos had implemented onto the Guks a policy which made the Navinish language illegal to be spoken/written. They allowed the citizens of the Guk nations to speak either Dinedrad since they had already been previously mandated to learn it in school as a second language, or to learn Hasonese, but Navinish was out of the picture. Hence, Dinedrad still has a strong spoken background especially in Soseunguk due to this policy only being revoked 15 years ago, although it’s all thanks to Soseunguk that this policy was revoked, as they refused to keep being under Hasodian control, which became the point in history where the Guks finally broke free from the Hasodian regime. The Navinit culture is pretty similar to the Navinian culture, except, Navinian culture defines someone who is born and lives within the woods, and a Navinit defines someone who was born and lives outside of the Navin woods. All that to say, that is why all the Guks are Navinit states and not Navinian nations, it’s only a different term, meaning a Navinian residing out of the woods, or being born out of them, but they still share a common strong cultural background. For example, a lot of our candles are Navinian, but Navinits from the Guks do drink the traditional beverage as well which inspires these candles. Navinits, like Navinians, have a strong attachment to the moon and the cycle of death. When born, a Navinian has a tree assigned to them, from which they will grow along with. When the Navinian passes away to the living realm, the tree drops a seed as the tree itself also withers, which gives birth to a new tree, hence a new Navinian born that day will be attached to this tree. We stand with the Navinian people, as they are our ancestors. Here in Navinar Soseunguk, we, the Navinits, were chased away from our homes when Hasos stole the Navin land, and hence, we want to preserve Navinian culture for many centuries to come.
